If experiencing a real ‘off the beaten track’ Kiwi adventure is on your bucket list then Rangitata Rafts is the place for you!
Rangitata Rafts is a family-owned Kiwi adventure business located two hours south of Christchurch. We have unique access to the Rangitata Gorge, one of New Zealand’s most remote and exciting white water experiences. We’re all about giving people a fun, relaxed experience while tackling some of the South Island’s best rapids. Cozy Backpacker lodge accommodation too. Our base is situated in the heart of rural South Canterbury in the shadow of the majestic Southern Alps, after gearing up we’ll drive through this beautiful scenery to our starting point above the Rangitata Gorge.
Learn the ropes before hitting the big time
We teach you all the skills you need on the river. The first part of our trip is on (mostly!) flat water so you can learn the basics of paddling, raft and river safety. Once you’ve got the hang of things we get into the good stuff – rafting the glorious Rangitata Gorge.
Fun, laughter and Thrills
Grade 5 white water rapids guaranteed for thrill seekers.
Grade 2 especially for families A fun day out for the whole family!
Grab a hard-earned BBQ
It wouldn’t be a Rangitata Rafts trip without some hard-earned grub at the end. For all trips, enjoy a classic Kiwi BBQ after a hot shower, and check out the photos from your trip. Beer and wine available for purchase during the BBQ.
Accommodation – stay at the Lodge
A cosy backpacker style lodge in the middle of a back country sheep & beef station. Quiet and relaxing amongst some of New Zealand’s best scenery, only 10 minutes from Peel Forest and great hiking trails. Sleeps up to 35 people with 4 dorm rooms and 2 double rooms. We suggest you bring groceries along since we are a wee ways away from the nearest store. However, Peel Forest cafe/pub (10 minutes drive) has some really great food. The lodge is available for group bookings from May to September.
