New for 2019 include workshops by with gardening and food celebrity, Lynda Hallinan – former NZ Gardener editor, author, broadcaster and mad-keen gardener, Lynda has spent half her life writing about her passion for plants. Lynda will be taking two workshops ‘Homegrown Harvests’ and ‘Fresh flowers & festive flavours’.

Admission $5 at the door plus a gift of food for the foodbank.
Guest Tainui Koru internationally renowned performer who hails from Ashburton.
Clarinet Greta Calvert Geraldine High School.
Musical Director: Jocelyn Jones
Accompanist: Deborah Sloper
Some of the Christmas Carols will be familiar – O Holy Night, – you will even get the chance to sing along with We Three Kings, Once in Royal David’s City and the 12 Days of Kiwi Christmas!
Our guest is Tainui Koru – an internationally renowned singer – who grew up in Ashburton. In fact, the Mid Canterbury Choir gave him his first musical opportunity when he sang the part of Amahl in “Amahl and the Night Visitors” in 2004 – Tainui was just 11 years old then! The choir has watched his career blossom and were absolutely thrilled when he agreed to sing with us at all three concerts – he will be in Ashburton to sing with “Cabernet”.
We will also welcome clarinet player Greta Calvert from Geraldine High School to join the choir to play Clear Was the Night.
Along with the entry price of $5 (tickets available on the day at the door) we ask you for a gift of food for the Foodbank.
We hope folk will take time out from their busy Christmas preparations to enjoy this concert – a way to remember the true meaning of Christmas.

She is a recipient of George Russell Music Scholarship, Ruby Hay Scholarship, Pettman Special Programme Scholarship, Leslie Atkinson Memorial Prize in Music and the Dame Malvina Major Scholarship.
Violinist Mark Menzies is described in the Los Angeles Times as an ‘extraordinary musician’ and a ‘riveting violinist’, Mark Menzies’ career as a viola and violin virtuoso, chamber musician and pianist, conductor and advocate of contemporary music, has seen performances in Europe, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, Japan, New Zealand and across the United States.
Tres Cordes string trio has been performing together since 2007, and are all members of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra; Cathy Irons (violin), Sharon Baylis (viola) and Tomas Hurnik (cello).
