We are a full service, outdoors driven, tourism operation based out of Stravon™, a pristine wilderness property nestled in South Canterbury’s world renowned Hunters Hills.

Stravon Safaris will personally arrange and guide you into the most remote yet beautiful corners of New Zealand. We have some of the friendliest, most knowledgeable and down to earth guides in the world so be prepared to make long-lasting memories, and a few mates along the way.

For the Angler – An Anglers El Dorado

New Zealand holds some of the last examples of true wilderness fishing in an environment unspoiled by man. Fish the crystal clear spring creeks for those heavy fish that await you, or have a crack at the high country lakes, free stone streams or the glacier fed mountain rivers that play home to some of New Zealand’s largest trout and salmon.

For the Wildlife Admirer

In a place filled with colourful characters there’s all sorts of unique wildlife waiting to cross your path. Whether it’s getting up close and personal with a Whitetail, the song of the Korimako perched in a Totara or the incredible agility of a Chamois in full flight. You’ll meet species of all shapes & sizes here.

Simply put, New Zealand is a magical place to photograph or film. It is an area where snow-capped mountains, rivers of ice, deep lakes, the nights sky, unbroken forests and tussock grasslands produce a untouched landscape of exceptional beauty.

You Can Check Out, But You’ll Never Leave

Our Alpine Lodge at Stravon, aptly named “Headquarters” is from a time long since gone. Originally built in 1895 at the Homestead it was then transported by horseback to its present location in the 1930’s. In keeping with its proud history, the lodge has been pretty much left to how it was from all those years ago, other than a few tweaks here and there to satisfy the 21st century explorer.
